Kalamazoo, MI Went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Age 96. Pearl was born in Kalamazoo on April 3, 1919, the daughter of the late Edward and Anna Everts Stuurwold. She graduated from Ebenezer Christian School. She worked for Upjohn, Hoekstra's Hardware and Bonnie's Bridal. She was an active member of Grace Christian Reformed Church and was President of the Dorcas Society. She was married to Gerrit VanderLugt on August 20, 1942; he preceded her in death. Pearl is survived by her son, Garret Marie VanderLugt of Kalamazoo; two grandchildren, Sara Milo Fowler of San Diego, CA and Lori VanderLugt of Kalamazoo; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Anna Stuurwold; brother, John Stuurwold; and sister, Edna Slager. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 12 p.m., officiated by Rev. Dr. Harry Arnold. The committal service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Greg Timmer. Memorial contributions may be directed to Park Village Pines.
