of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away on January 2, 2013 at Bronson Hospital. Osvalds was born March 11, 1919, in Berzmuiza Berze Township, Jelgava County, Latvia. Brother Gotfrieds Reinvalds, sisters Marta Balins and Lida Reinvalds predeceased him. Osvalds resided in Kalamazoo since 1951. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 25 years in the transportation department at Georgia Pacific. Osvalds was a member of the Latvian Association of Kalamazoo and its former president along with being a member of the Latvian Welfare Association D.V.. Osvalds was a lifelong member of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran United Church of Kalamazoo. He was preceded in death by his wife Monika Reinvalds on September 22, 2007, who he married in 1962. Surviving are a son, Andis Svikis and his wife Audrey M. Andrews and 2 grandchildren, Andis A. Svikis and Aleksandra A. Svikis, all of Kalamazoo. A private memorial service will be held. Memorial contributions in Osvalds memory may be made to the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran United Church of Kalamazoo or D.V. of Kalamazoo.
