Nelly Glas

GLAS, Nelly Kalamazoo ?She ran the race and won the prize and now is laying her trophies at Jesus? feet? Nelly went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 19, 2006. She was born April 29, 1925 in the Netherlands, the daughter of Peter and Nellie Dirkmaat Vander Werff and lived in Kalamazoo. She was a member of the Kalamazoo First Assembly of God and recently attended Third Reformed Church. In 1947, she married Klaas Glas and together they operated Glas Landscape & Nursery. Nelly was preceded in death by Klaas in 1993, and a brother, Rinze Vander Werff. Her survivors include her son Jacob Glas of Kalamazoo; her daughter, Nelly Glas of Kalamazoo; her sister, Ann Cal Vander Wal; brothers, Clarence Grace Vander Werff, Peter Deanna Vander Werff and Harry Maryann Vander Werff; several relatives in the Netherlands. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday in the Third Reformed Church, 2345 N. 10th St. with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Porte officiating. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Sunday from 2- 5:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to the Third Reformed Church or the charity of choice.
