Galesburg, Michigan Surrounded by her family and friends, Nancy passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010 at her home. She was born March 24, 1953 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Lloyd and Clara Miller Ritter. On August 11, 1973, Nancy married her life partner, best friend and husband, Ronald J. Smith. She had been employed by Stone Cottage, where she was a cook and housekeeper. She was also a caregiver for many of her family members. Nancy loved to read, cook and camp. She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd; a daughter Angela Marie; brother, Lloyd "Sonny" Ritter; and a brother-in-law, Charlie Schwab. Her survivors include her husband, Ron; her children, Melissa Joe Perry Smith, Carl Carrie Smith, Steven Joy Peck Smith and Ronald Smith, Jr.; her mother, Clara Ritter; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; a sister, Alberta Schwab; a brother, Le Roy Ritter; and very best friends, Pam and Denessa. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek St., with Rev. John McNaughton officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
