Kalamazoo, MI Died Saturday morning May 29, 2010. Minnie was born August 22, 1917 in Matlock, Iowa a daughter of Peter and Jennie Valentine Houtkooper. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of her life and was a member of the Texas Corners Bible Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Theodore Modderman in 1969; 3 brothers, Albert, John, and Orrin Houtkooper; and 3 sisters, Ann Miller, Gertrude Grube, and Marie Smit. She is survived by 2 children, Jean Bloom of Gobles and Frederick Modderman of Kalamazoo; 4 grandchildren, Karyn Abraham, and Sandahl, Jessica, and Diandre Bloom; a great-grandchild, Sofia Kiser; a sister-in-law, Rose Modderman of Tennessee; nieces, Sharon Grube of Portage and Barbara Morren of Mattawan; and several other nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 11 o'clock Thursday in Hope Cemetery in Texas Township. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Heartland Hospice Program.
