HILL, Mildred �Millie�
of Portage Millie passed away Friday afternoon, January 28, 2011 at Tendercare of Portage surrounded by her family. She was born November 20, 1922 in Monticello, KY, one of eleven children to Amp and Arco Garrett Crabtree. Millie was a sweet �Kentucky Woman� who loved laughter and singing, especially gospel music. And as a youth, she performed on radio in Kentucky. She also sang in her church, where she met her one and only true love, Bob, and devoted her life to her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert W. Hill in 1986; her parents; and four sisters, Ruth French, Frances Conwell, Janella Walcott and Maxine Bell. Surviving are her two children, Janet Ron Herder of Kalamazoo and Bob Mary Hill of Benton, AR; three grandchildren, Todd Herder of Kalamazoo, LeeAnne Frank Archer of Holland, and Robert Hill of Benton, AR; six great-grandchildren, Madison and Alexandra Archer, Peri and Mitchell Herder, Bobby Hill, and Jessica Stocks; one great-great-grandson, Brayan Stocks; three sisters, Wanda Thalls, Irene Denney, and Mary Mendenhall; three brothers, Don, Homer, and Logan Crabtree; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mildred will be at 2:00 PM on Friday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue, with Rev. James Dyke officiating, where friends may visit with the family from 1:00 PM until the time of services. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals SPCA of Southwest Michigan or St. Andrew community Church.
