of Portage, Michigan Passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Age 95. Maxine was born in Kalamazoo on January 17, 1919, the daughter of the late William and Anna Lau Barney. She was married to Robert LeRoy Taylor on December 21, 1946; he preceded her in death on July 19, 1975. Together they owned Taylor Tree Trimmers. Among her hobbies she loved playing cards, going to casinos, cribbage and bridge. She is survived by her children, LeeAnn Cleon Grinage of Plainwell, Jean Cook of Scotts and Jack Taylor of Scotts; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Taylor of Portage; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a very special nephew Tom Carol Carlson of Portage; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Scott Taylor of Portage; five brothers and two sisters, Walter, Earl, Kenneth, Lawrence, Bill, Helen and Virginia. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Avenue, where the funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. Pastor Johnny Groda will officiate with interment in Portage South Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Life Care Center of Plainwell Activities Fund.
