Died Friday evening March 1, 2013 at her residence. Marvis was born June 11, 1926 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a daughter of Paul and Norrene (Waite) Spencer. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. Marvis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Meints on July 21, 1993; and a brother, Raymond. She is survived by 4 children, James (Kathy) Meints of Kalamazoo, Jerry (Annette) Meints of Trevor, WI, Suzanne (John) Moyer of Kalamazoo, and Terri Good of Kalamazoo; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lyall (Paula) Nordahl of Kalamazoo; a sister-in-law, Kathy Spencer of South Carolina; her loving cat, Kit; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 1 o'clock, Thursday, March 7th at the First Freewill Baptist Church, 630 Moline St. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Private burial will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery, Comstock at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hospitality House of Kalamazoo, where she delivered her home made baked goods for the last 15 years.
