Marta Dey

DEY, MARTA Age 95, died at the Upjohn Community Nursing Home, May 31, 2015. Marta was born October 23, 1919 to the late Vernon and Maude Brown Smith in Gobles, MI. She married Ivan Dey on March 21, 1947 who died in 1997 after 50 years together. Together they loved to travel, camp, and fish. Marta attended the Kalamazoo Community Church, she loved needlepoint, arts & crafts, and shopping. She was a Flea Market Queen. Marta is survived by her children: Michael Mary Dey of Kalamazoo; Edgar Bonnie Slate of Bushnell, FL; Shirley Jim Provost, Three Rivers; and Nancy Labadie of Kalamazoo; 18 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Also preceding her in death are children, Gary Kris Dey & Phyllis Slate; sisters, Eva Price & Hazel McBride; brothers, Claire Smith & Leslie Newton; and great grandson Tyler Michael Dey. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 am at the Langeland Portage Chapel, with Pastor Dave Johnson officiating. Friends may visit with her family beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Center Ave.
