Age 48
Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009 of pancreatic cancer, surrounded by the family she loved with all her heart. Mrs. Walkington was born August 13, 1960 in Flint, Michigan to Edward and Lee McLaughlin. After graduating from Western Michigan University, she was employed with the City of Portage for 24 years, doing graphic design of city publications and running the city mail room and copy center. She leaves many friends and wonderful memories there. Marianne counted her blessings in loving friends and family who brought special joy and laughter throughout her life, especially during her illness. She tried to find humor in every situation and was never afraid to laugh at herself. Marianne enjoyed reading, shopping, traveling and cheering on the Detroit Lions. Marianne was preceded in death by her father, Edward, who died in 2008. She is survived by her mother Lee McLaughlin. Marianne leaves behind her husband Michael who was the love of her life and her favorite nurse and all around guardian angel. She leaves behind two sons, Andrew and Matt Angerman who were a special source of pride for her. She also leaves stepsons, Kevin Tressa and Cliff Jennifer Walkington and grandchildren, Zachary and Audrey, and Mckenzie, Chase and Derek, and in-laws Pat and Doug Wightman. She leaves brother, Sean Nancy McLaughlin; sister, Cyndy Robert Marsh and sister, Maureen McLaughlin and nieces and nephews, Molly, Brian and Kevin McLaughlin and Harrison and Maddie McKay and Benjamin Marsh. Funeral services for Marianne will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday tomorrow, May 28, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Visitation will take place from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday today at the funeral home and on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. A private internment will take place at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Meridian Twp. Donations may be made to the West Michigan Cancer Center or Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
