MEYERS, Margaret
of Portage Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children on Friday, September 17, 2010. She was born December 24, 1919 in Germany to the late Otto and Minna Schroeder Lepenis. Margaret enjoyed life and especially looked forward to spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies were varied and included baking, dancing, traveling, sewing and playing her favorite card game, Shanghai--where she excelled. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the German American Club. After immigrating from Germany in the early 1950s, she became an American citizen and enjoyed a rewarding 31 year career at Doubleday Brothers office supply company in Portage. Surviving Margaret are her three children, Henry and Carl Hosbein, both of Portage and Betty Jeff Rubleski of Muskegon; three grandchildren, Jeff, Miranda and Emily, and many nieces and nephews. Also preceding Margaret in death were late husbands Harold Happy Hosbein and Milfred Meyers; two sisters, Puppe Huebner and Ule Block, along with a young brother in his youth. A Memorial Service celebrating Margaret's life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave., where friends may visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
