Kalamazoo, MI Marcia Barney, age 81, passed away November 7, 2009. She was born February 1, 1928 in Allegan, MI to Wilfred and Carrie Estabrook Beery. Marcia graduated from Allegan High School in 1945. In 1946 she married Cameron E. Baxter, who died in 1978. Marcia married Claude H. Barney in 1981 and he passed away after a prolonged illness, in 1999. Preceding her in death were her parents, Wilfred A. and Carrie Beery, husbands, Cam and Claude, sister, Doris Beery Webb Hycoop, brother, Wilfred "Bud" Helen Beery; and brother-in-law, James Baxter. Surviving Marcia is her daughter, Venah Baxter Ray Guyton, their children/grandchildren, Renee Ray Jeff McParlan,Estelle, Melissa Ray,Jazmin & Mondrea of Kalamazoo; sisters-in-law, Joyce Baxter of Kalamazoo and her family, Mona Blount and her family, of Texas; step-children, Shelly Barney Modrak of Saugatuck, Sherry Barney JD Edwards of Kalamazoo, Howard Kelly Barney of Grand Rapids and Scott Tina Barney of Alabama and their children and grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Richard Gloria Beery, Lisa Beery Ernest Pueblo of the Kalamazoo area, Leigh Tina Baxter of Indiana, Starr Bill Waldron and Ralph Baxter of the Kalamazoo area, and their families. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 beginning at 10:00 AM, in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, Loaves and Fishes or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
