Galesburg, Michigan Passed away, Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Kairos Dwelling, Kalamazoo, Michigan. Lurline was born September 17, 1924 in Banford, Lee County, Kentucky and moved to Galesburg, Michigan in 1938 at the age of 14 with her mother and step-father. She was the daughter of the late Sidney Lynch Gillespie and Maggie Ethel Haddix Gillespie-Mahaffay and the step-daughter of Russell J. Mahaffay. Lurline graduated from Galesburg High School in 1944. She was employed by The Kellogg Company for 31 years, retiring in 1982. On July 5, 1949 she married Millard "Dan" Daniels in Ravenna, Kentucky, who preceded her in death on September 3, 1984. Lurline is survived by her daughters and a son-in-law, Danneasha Reese and Remilda and Jim Taylor, the loves of her life, her grandchildren a�" Daniel Amanda Reese, Erin Dan Smith, Scott Reese and Joshua Holly Taylor and her great-grandchildren, Kenny, Chloe, Reagan, Sammy, Avery, Breckin, Lindan and Robby. Lurline is also survived by her brother Kenneth Karen Mahaffay and her sister-in-law Opal Gillespie and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother, Emily and James Gillespie, her brother-in-laws, Willie and Clarence Daniels and Carlos Alumbaugh and her sister-in-laws Christine Alumbaugh and Margaret Daniels. The family would like to thank Marianne, Judy, Donna, Pat and Heather from Reverence Hospice for all the wonderful care they gave to our mother during her struggles. Without them we would not have been able to get through this difficult time. Services for Lurline will be held 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Galesburg United Methodist Church, Galesburg, Michigan with burial to follow at Floral Lawn Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan. Rev. Len Schoenherr will officiate. The family will have a visitation at the church one hour prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to Reverence Hospice, 348 North Burdick St., Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes.
