Formerly of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Zephyrhills, Florida Passed away October 29, 2008 at the Dussia House, Otsego. Lola was born November 12, 1910 in Eppards Point Township, IL to the late George S. and Mayme McCullum Sims. Lola was married in 1928 to Howard R. Kurtz in Chicago, IL. Howard preceded her in death in 1981. Lola was a member of Milwood United Methodist Church for many years and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Kalamazoo Corinthian Chapter. While living in Florida, she was a Hospital Auxiliary member, serving just short of her goal of 2000 hours. Lola loved her God and family and lived life to the fullest. Among her keen interests was her painting, music, all types of gardening, reading and sewing. Surviving Lola are her children, Nancy Roberts of Kalamazoo, Sally Eugene Krohn of Plainwell; grandchildren, Bruce Ardena Roberts, Keith Vicki Roberts, Scott Roberts, Katherine Dennis Hageman and Kristopher E. Joni Krohn; great grandchildren, Erik, Bryan Beth, Adrienne, Dennis Jr., Ethan, Andrew and Erik; step-great grandchildren, Heidi Gary Starnes and Perry Molly Olson; and great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death was her grand-daughter, Nanette A. Guyon brothers, Stephen, George and John Sims; son-in-law, L. Gordon Roberts. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 1st, 11:00AM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., with a 1-hour visitation 10-11:00, prior to the services. Rev.Dr. Wayne Price will officiate the services.
