Kalamazoo, MI Passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014. Age 83. Lois was born in St. Joseph, MI on October 17, 1930, the daughter of the late Arthur and Leona Slater Ludwig. She graduated from St. Joseph High School and worked at Leco as a receptionist. She was married to Robert Claeys in 1951. They later moved to Kalamazoo, where she worked in Robert's accounting practice until he died in 1987. She liked working in gardens, going to casinos, playing bingo and loved bowling. She especially liked to watch the Pistons play. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and loved to have them all around the table talking and laughing. She is survived by four children, Sandra David Kleinbrink of Kalamazoo, Pamela Gary Lorenz of Florida, Robert Allyson Claeys of Kalamazoo and Steven Claeys of Gobles; four grandchildren, Erica and Garrett Kleinbrink and Bobby and Andy Claeys; one sister, Shirlee Benford of St. Jospeh; and many nieces and nephews. Her little dog Ginny was her constant companion. Special thanks to Sheryl from Heartland Hospice. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. A graveside service will follow the visitation at Hill Cemetery.
