Leroy Stager

STAGER, LeRoy ?Milt? Galesburg Passed away Saturday, June 16, 2007. He was born July 18, 1914 in Kalamazoo, the son of Frank and Sarah Plough Stager and had lived in the area for many years. Milt graduated from Michigan State University, where he received his degree in Forestry and Soil Conservation. He then attended the University of Illinois and Columbia. He worked as a computer programmer for DLSC in Battle Creek and was a rural mail carrier for Galesburg. Milt was a member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church, where he served on many of the church boards. He loved the out of doors, cutting wood, farming, reading and sailing. He had also served his country in the United States Navy during WW II. On November 21, 1951, he married the former Helena C. Lueker, and she preceded him in death on November 21, 2003. He is survived by his daughter, Ruth Donald Mathews of Galesburg; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a brother, John Stager of S. Carolina; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek St. with Rev. Don Wendell officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Tuesday from 12 NOON until service time. Memorials may be directed to Kids Hope, USA C/O Galesburg United Methodist Church.
