PAPESH, Lawrence "Pap"
Of Portage Larry passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, April 13, 2011 at his home. He was born December 15, 1943 in Joliet, IL, the son of Joseph and Jean Vicich Papesh. Larry was a veteran of the United States Air Force. On June 12, 1971, he was united in marriage to Susan Cosby. Larry was employed by General Motors Co. for 33 years until his retirement. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Susan Papesh; three children, Richard Paul Papesh, Cindy Papesh, and Charles Kelly Garten Papesh all of Portage; four grandchildren, Jacob and Ashley McKenney and Victor and Racheal Papesh; two sisters, Dorothy Williams and Violet Soule; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were one son, Raymond Papesh on April 14, 1991; father, Joseph Papesh; mother and step-father, Jean and William Vliek; five brothers, Joseph, Richard, Tom, Billy, and Ron Papesh; and one sister, Joanne Hunt. Funeral services for Larry will be at 11:00 AM on Monday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 2-5 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
