John Triestram
Kalamazoo John, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 1st, 2014. He was born on August 5, 1926 in Jackson, Michigan to Clarence and Janet Schuur Triestram. After graduating from Kalamazoo Central High School, he served in the United States Army during WWII. John attended Western Michigan University, University of Michigan and graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in Pharmacy. He was president of the Honor Society Ro-Chi, was listed in Who's Who in American Schools and Universities and was a member of South Western Michigan Pharmacists Association. On September 15, 1951, he was united in marriage to the former, Arlene R. Andrews. John came back to Kalamazoo in 1957, where he owned and operated Triestram's City Drug Store on East Main Street until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of Kalamazoo First United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Arlene Triestram; their two daughters, Candice Gary, and Sherry Willis; son-in-law, James Willis; grandson, Jonathan Triestram Willis; nieces, Jaima Chevalier and Megan Jackson, and nephew, Clem Jackson. A funeral service for John will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, May 17, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, with Rev. James Dyke officiating, followed by a luncheon at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 PM on Friday, May 16 at the funeral home.
