Kalamazoo, MI Passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Age 90. John was born in Kalamazoo on January 16, 1925, the son of the late Ignatz and Elizabeth Opra. John served with the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from James River Corporation, where he was employed as a Boiler Engineer. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Geneva Opra; one son, Steven Eugene Jane Opra of Decatur; and two grandchildren, Marilla Opra and Daniel Opra both of Decatur. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Matilda and Irene. There will be no visitation and private interment will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. A memorial gathering will be held from 1-4:00 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Alamo Township Hall, 7901 North 6th St., Kalamazoo.
