John DeVisser

Of Bangor Passed away Sunday January 20, 2013. John was born November 11, 1922 in Kalamazoo the son of Bastian and Nellie VanGemert. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. John was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation and enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and woodworking. Prior to his retirement he was employed with Buck Tool as a machinist. On January 26, 1945, John was united in marriage to the former Alberta Drenth who survives. Also surviving are his children, Walter Dorothy DeVisser, Marvin Cathy DeVisser, Gerald Jeanne DeVisser, Jo-An William VanSweden; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Abraham DeVisser; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Friday at 2:00pm at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation, 108 Pratt Rd, with Rev. G. J. Baan officiating. Private interment will be in Monk Cemetery in Bangor. Friends may meet the family Thursday from 5-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Providence Christian School or the charity of your choice.
