Passed away Friday morning, March 21, 2014. Jerry was born June 15, 1943 in Charlotte, MI the son of Marienus "Jack" and Erma Beech Klont. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Jerry was employed with MDOT for 30 years retiring as a crew leader. He was a member of Gracespring Bible Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and doing yardwork. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their various activities. On August 13, 1963 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, Suzanne Burgess, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Nicki Stan McDonald, Russell Tanya Klont; 5 grandchildren, Rebecca, Ryan, Vance, Carter, and Quinn; a sister, Lillian Walter Peterson; and several nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Francis. A memorial service to celebrate Jerry's life will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, March 25 at Gracespring Bible Church, 8643 Gull Rd, with Pastor Rob Cook officiating. A private graveside service will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Gracespring Bible Church or the American Lung Association.
