Of Kalamazoo Died July 1, 2011 at Tendercare of Westwood. Jennie was born March 30, 1919 in Barneveld, The Netherlands, a daughter of Barend and Hendrika Hazeleger VanLeeuwen and has been a resident of Kalamazoo since 1950. She was a lifelong member of Bethany Reformed Church. Jennie was preceded in death by her husband Ben Schut in 1998. Surviving are a son Bernard Schut Debbie Schut, wife of Kalamazoo; 2 grandchildren, Adam Schut Amy Schut, wife of Indianapolis, IN and Kim McDowell Brian McDowell, husband of Constantine, MI; 3 great-grandchildren, Chloe Schut, Samantha and Sydney McDowell; 4 brothers and 3 sisters, Barend VanLeeuwen deceased, Mien Koesveld, Riek VanRee, Jaap VanLeeuwen, Betsy Gorsling, Dicky VanLeeuwen deceased and Toos VanLeeuwen deceased. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 6 at 11:00 am at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. with the Rev. Dr. Robert Terwilliger officiating. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery in Comstock Township. Visitation will begin one hour before the service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions in Jennie?s memory may be made to In House Hospice 5360 Holiday Terrace Suite 24A, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
