Kalamazoo, MI Passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Sojourner House in Kalamazoo. Age 83. She was born in McComb, MS on February 25, 1930, the daughter of the late Troy and Ruth Schmidt Humphries. She was an active and devoted member of Temple Baptist Church. She was married to John J. Wilson on October 7, 1966; he preceded her in death on July 26, 2001. She is survived by her children, Bernard E. Shirley Wilson of Oxford, MI, Charlene A. Wilson of Detroit, MI and Judy Charles Root of Delton, MI; 25 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons and one daughter, Dave Wilson, James Wilson, Robert Wilson and Joyce Peavler. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007. They may then visit with the family from 11:00 - 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Temple Baptist Church, 3706 Mt. Olivet Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49004, where the funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Herbert Hutchinson will officiate with interment in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Great Lakes Home Health & Hospice in her memory.
