MEINTS, Jeanette Zantjer
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Tendercare of Portage. Jeanette was born on April 18, 1918, in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Nicholas and Maria Bogard Zantjer, and was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo. On June 19, 1948, she was married to John P. Meints, who preceded her in death. John and Jeanette attended Grace Christian Reformed Church and The Netherlands Reformed Congregation, where Jeanette was an organist for many years and a member and frequent officer of their Dorcas Guild. For 20 years, she was the executive secretary of the Kalamazoo office of the American Cancer Society and was active in their campaigns. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerrit Zantjer; two sisters, Cora Zantjer Schoonbeck and Angeline Zantjer Stryd; and two brothers-in-law, Peter Stryd and Donald Meints. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Robert Marilyn Meints, of Portage; two sisters-in-law, Susanna Meints and Ruth Zantjer, both of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family Thursday, July 9 from 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South Ninth Street, where services will be held Friday, July 10 at 10:00AM with the Rev. Johan Zippro officiating. Interment at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
