Formerly of Kalamazoo Jean passed away early Friday afternoon, March 19, 2010 at White Oaks Assisted Living in Lawton. She was born August 18, 1920 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Jacob and Mary Derkson Sikkenga. On January 1, 1939, she was united in marriage to Robert A. Imus in Kalamazoo. Jean worked at the original Rx Optical and partnered with her husband in forming R.A. Imus Motor Sales in Otsego and later Paw Paw until it was sold in 1989. She was a charter and 50 year member of the Wolverine Chapter of American Business Women's Association, and member of Oshtemo United Methodist Church. Surviving are four children, Roberta Blaine Rex of Decatur, Tom Linda Imus of Kalamazoo, Clark Jacqueline Imus of Gobles, and William Karen Imus of Lawton; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Helen Sikkenga; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband of 56 years, Robert A. Imus; two daughters, Judith Imus and Martha Forrest; her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Cornelia and James Gould; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Vivian Sikkenga and brother, Henry Sikkenga. Funeral services for Jean will be at 1:00 PM on Monday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, with Rev. Brian Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery in Texas Corner. Friends may visit with the family from 5-7 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to American Business Women's Association or Oshtemo United Methodist Church.
