of Richland Passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015 after a lengthy illness. The son of the late Auther and Pauline Silman, he was born in Malden, MO. Having moved to Michigan in his teens, James met and married Marjorie Schrader and they made their home in the Kalamazoo area. Living a very full life, James was a strong, determined, and exceptional man. He lived by the "work hard, play hard" rule. He was truly an entrepreneur in all his many endeavors throughout his life. Being the founder & owner of Kalamazoo Amusement Inc., a coin operated music and games business, was his greatest achievement. James is survived by his wife Marjorie of sixty-six years, their three children Sandra Richard Bennett of Portage, James E Jeri Silman of Richland and Robert D Silman of Kalamazoo, four grandchildren Brian Stacy Bennett of East Lansing, Kristine Michael Coe of Okemos, Jonathan Silman of Kalamazoo and Robert Silman of Fishers, IN., and two great- grandchildren. Also surviving are his two sisters Eunice Estes of Kalamazoo and Betty Don Kremble of Vicksburg, many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his brother Loren Ray Silman of White Cloud and several half-brothers and half-sisters. Visitation will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street from 6-8pm on Tuesday, July 7, and 12:30-1:30 PM on Wednesday, July 8, with a funeral service to begin at 1:30 PM with Pastor Matt Weiler officiating. Entombment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
