MESSER, Isaac
Of Scotts Isaac passed away Saturday morning, July 17, 2010 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence of Battle Creek. He was born January 25, 1926 in Mills, Kentucky, the son of Elige and Sarah Jackson Messer. Isaac was employed by Georgia Pacific Paper Co. for 44 years until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, trapping, and tending his garden. On May 10, 1947, he was united in marriage to Dolores Boyd, who preceded him in death on September 1, 2006. Also preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters; and two brothers. Surviving are five children, Larry Judy Messer of Battle Creek, Michael Messer of Comstock, Deborah Tom Schauer of Lawrence, Jeff Donna Messer of Monticello, Indiana, and Lisa Bob Stutz of Portage; fourteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Ed Esseline Messer, and Johnny Haley Messer both of Kentucky; sister-in-law, Naomi Munn of Kalamazoo and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Messer will be at 1:30 PM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue, with Pastor Daniel Kelly of Vicksburg Bible Church officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Bronson Cemetery, Bronson, MI. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence.
