Howard Newhouse

Passed away November 20, 2014 at age 83. Howard was born September 15, 1931 in Kalamazoo to the late Peter and Murl Price Newhouse. He was united in marriage to Gertrude VanDyken in 1952, she preceded him in death in 2003. He served in the U.S. Army from January of 1949 until honorably discharged in September of 1952. He was employed with the Sutherland Paper Mill and also owned Newhouse Disposal Company, he was a man who loved to work. He belonged to the Portage-Schoolcraft Eagles Aerie 3531. Howard is survived by his children, David Susan Newhouse and Beverly Newhouse; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will take place Monday, November 24th, 11:00 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. The family will greet friends for 1 hour prior to the services. Luncheon to follow the service. A private burial will be at Portage Central Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Borgess Heart Institute.
