KONING, Henry
Of Portage, Michigan Passed away Wednesday evening, July 9, 2008. Henry was born May 16, 1923 in Kalamazoo the son of Tom and Dena Niewoonder Koning. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Henry worked in electronics with Green Radio and All-Tronics for several years before managing mobile home parks in Florida for almost 20 years. He was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church; enjoyed spending time with his family, and traveling. On November 21, 1947 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Beatrice Munting who survives. Also surviving are his children, David Joy Koning, Diane Douglas DeJong, Linda Koning; 4 grandchildren, Lisa Daniel Vos, Jason Jana Koning, Karin DeJong, and Peter DeJong; 2 great-grandchildren, Justin Vos and William Henry Koning; a sister, Grace Koning; and several nieces and nephews. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; and 4 brothers and sisters, Joe Koning, Ellen VandenBerg, Bill Koning, and Ida Nap. Services will be held 11:00AM Monday at the Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Rd, with Dr. Warren Lammers and Rev. Daniel Vos officiating. Graveside services will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery at 2:00PM. Friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick. Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Christian Schools Association, Hospice of Southwest Michigan, or the Alzheimer's Association. www.langelands.com
