Kalamazoo, Michigan Henry Knibbe, child of God, left his temporary home of 78 years for his eternal one on Thursday, August 5, 2010, after a brief illness. He was born the eighth and youngest child of David and Pietertje Knibbe on January 9, 1932, in The Netherlands, immigrating to the United States in 1958, where he met his best friend, Evelyn Jepkema Knibbe, whom he married on April 17, 1959. Henry lived a life of gratitude to God for the completely sufficient saving work of Jesus Christ, and testified by word and deed God's faithfulness in every circumstance. His godly example and enormous influence and encouragement will be greatly missed by: his beloved wife of 51 years, Evelyn; six children, Cheryl David Post, David Gayle Knibbe, Donna Timothy Partin, Carla Scott Hatfield, Doug Cathy Knibbe, Christy Stan Nagel; 26 grandchildren; sister, Wilma den Boer of Canada; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Knibbe and Gerda Knibbe; in-laws, Fred Joan Jepkema, Don Marilyn Jepkema, Jim Jepkema, Martin Marsha Jepkema, Deb Jim Smit and Shirley Turcott; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and fellow Christians. Heaven's welcoming committee will include a precious granddaughter, Rachel Hatfield. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm Saturday today at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. A graveside service will be held 10:00 Monday morning in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, followed by a Christian memorial service at Covenant United Reformed Church, 3724 Lovers Lane, at 12:00 noon, followed by a time for visiting and refreshments.
