CARPENTER, Henrietta
Of Portage, Michigan Henrietta went home to be with her Lord on Thursday evening September 24, 2009. She was born September 16, 1917, in Austinville, Iowa, the daughter of George and Harriet Kuiper Kiewiet. The past 20 years she has been a Kalamazoo area resident and previously resided in the Pontiac and Gladwin areas. Henrietta was a member of the First Reformed Church of Portage where she was involved in Dorcas Society. On November 26, 1936, she was united in marriage to George W.L. Carpenter who preceded her in death on November 5, 1989. Also preceding her in death were her parents and siblings, Elizabeth Mohney, Elsie Koloff, Dena Becker, George Kiewiet and Matthew Kiewiet; a grandson, Richard W. Carpenter and great-granddaughter, Amanda Marie Carpenter. Surviving are two sons, Richard Roberta Carpenter of Gladwin, MI and George Sharon Carpenter of White Lake, MI; eight grandchildren, Rodger, Robyn, Ryan, Clay, Shawna, Lisa, Kerry and Henrietta; 19 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Harm Jean Kiewiet of Kalamazoo; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-5 PM Sunday, September 27 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. A Funeral Service will be held 12:00 Noon Monday at the First Reformed Church of Portage 7905 S. Westnedge Ave with Pastors Mike Drew and Ed Martin officiating. Interment will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorials in Henrietta's memory may be directed to First Reformed Church of Portage Memorial Fund.
