Formerly of Mississippi Passed away Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Lakeview Hospital in Paw Paw. Helen was born March 20, 1934 in the south, Kosciusko, MS to the late Fred and Hattie Roby Greer. She moved to Ann Arbor as a teenager and then to Kalamazoo in 1956. Helen was completely devoted to her entire family and especially enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. A member of Greater Faith Fellowship Church she also was involved in the community helping others whenever she could. She owned and operated a children's daycare center in her home for many years. She had been employed at Big Boy Restaurant, Kalamazoo Public Schools and in the Kalamazoo County Head Start program. Surviving Helen are her children, Sammie Haywood, David Haywood, Debra Haywood, Sharon Haywood, Helen "Ruth" Greer, Gertha Haywood, Alfred Haywood, Carla Brown and Marc Haywood; 26 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; sister, Ella Ree Smith; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Paige; daughter, Linda Bragg; 4-brothers; 2-sisters; special niece, Mary Harris and special friend, Marietta Lewis. Services will be held at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, Saturday, February 23rd at 11:00AM.
