Glenn Kruithof

KRUITHOF, Glenn Of Mattawan, Michigan Passed away Monday morning February 8, 2010. Glenn was born November 19, 1938 in Zeeland, MI the son of Gerrit and Esther Sebright Kruithof. He was a graduate of Zeeland High School and Hope College in 1970, where he earned a BA in Social Work. Glenn was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961, as an MP while stationed in Germany. Prior to his retirement in 1999, Glenn worked with the State of Michigan for 30 years in Berrien County as a Social Worker. Over the years, Glenn was a runner and avid bicyclist. He liked working in the yard and doing home projects. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling around the country with his wife Nancy to see his grandchildren. On January 16, 2003 Glenn was united in marriage to the former Nancy Cohoon who survives. Also surviving are his children, Glenn Donna Kruithof of Palm Coast, FL, Tammy Leo Smith of St. Joseph, MI, Hope Kruithof of Albuquerque, NM, Jeff Amy Kruithof of Renssalaer, IN; Nancy's children, SFC Nathan Cohoon of North Pole, AK, Jennifer Cohoon of Detroit, MI, Benjamin Erin Cohoon of Lansing, MI, Elizabeth Habacuc Diaz Ramos of Santiago, Chile; 18 grandchildren, Andrew, Emily, Stephanie, Lonnie, Rochelle, Misty, Dylan, Forrest, Delos, Aiden, Faith, Nathan, Adrienne, Adam, Isaiah, Yael, Matias, and Tomas; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister, Norman Kruithof of Glendale Heights, IL, Nancy O' Farrel of Ames, AL; several nieces and nephews; and his longtime best friend, Don Ames of St. Joseph. A gathering for family and friends will be held Wednesday from 5-8pm and Thursday from 11-1pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Cremation will take place and private interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center or the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. www.langelands.com
