George Bruda

BRUDA, George
Kalamazoo, Michigan Died Monday, July 7, 2008 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ann Foley. Surviving are his wife, Carol, his two daughters, Dr. Nancy Brian Maloney Bruda, and Ellen John Shelden and a sister, Elaine Jack Moyer. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Reid Shelden, four nieces and two nephews. A U.S. Navy veteran of WW II, George graduated from the University of Notre Dame in the College of Engineering, where he majored in Chemical Engineering. He joined The Upjohn Company in the pilot laboratory as a chemical engineer process development engineer and retired as Group Manager Specialty Production after 41 years of service. He was a recipient of the W.E. Upjohn Award. George was an avid reader who also enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard, fishing, hunting and traveling. He and Carol were fortunate to be able to travel and cruise over much of the world. One of his favorite travel experiences was a photographic safari in Africa. Services will be held at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Friday at 11:00 AM, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, with Rev. Evelyn Diephouse officiating. A private family interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. The family will also meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Building Fund of the Pine Island Presbyterian Church, 57649 Murray St., Mattawan, MI., 49071, where George was a charter member. www.langelands.com 343-1508
