Kalamazoo Passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Age 93. Frances was born in Montgomery, AL on December 13, 1921, the daughter of the late Charles and Lulu Stubbs Babbitt. She retired from the Brown Company after 30 years of service. Frances thoroughly enjoyed doting on her grandchildren. She always made sure all were content. Frances loved cooking for her family and was happiest when she knew you had something to eat. Other hobbies she loved were taking care of her flowers, making afghans for her family, embroidery and traveling with her husband, Jim. Frances and Jim loved taking trips and every October traveled north to view all the beautiful colors. She attended North Bridge Baptist Church in Cooper. She was married to James Tharge on February 7, 1945; he preceded her in death on February 16, 2006. Frances is survived by one daughter and one son, Linda Littell of Kalamazoo and Ron Donna Tharge of Otsego; grandchildren, Gregg, Marcus, Trina, Darlene, David, Kenny and Brandy; step-grandchildren, Shelly, Ginny and Kevin; several great-grandchildren; and one sister, Flora Babbitt. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister, Homer Babbitt and Dorothy Gibson. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral chapel. Pastor Paul Hays will officiate with interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be given to Wings of Hope Hospice.
