August 28, 1921 — November 2, 2009

LAGSDIN, Frances
Of Kalamazoo, MI Frances peacefully passed away early Monday morning, November 2, 2009, at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born August 28, 1921 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Paul and Jacqueline Fontanetta Monzulla. She was united in marriage to Tiland Don Lagsdin on April 25, 1942. Frances enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading mysteries and volunteering for the Democratic Party. It was with particular zeal that she donated much of her time as a staff member to former Congressman Howard Wolpe which earned her a Star Volunteer Award. Her love for family, however, remains her most recognized achievement. Her marriage to Tiland, lasting 67 years, was a testament to her love. Surviving are husband, Tiland; their two sons, David Lagsdin of Chicago, IL and Steven Lagsdin of Kalamazoo; one brother, Frank Monzulla of Bronson, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Victor Monzulla; and two sisters, Mary Lobreto and Bernice Milley. Frances' family would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to her home health care aides, Jennifer Root, Jennifer Lind, Lois Brasher and Dottie Moberly; her physicians, Dr. Albert Cabala, Dr. Christopher Rogers, Dr. Jeffrey Letzer, and all of their staff; and her nurses at Bronson Hospital, Julia, Dennis and Stephanie. Private graveside services were held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Senior Services and Kalamazoo Area Agency for Aging 3A. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Please visit www.langelands.com to sign Frances' online guestbook or leave a condolence to the family.
