PHELPS, Mrs. Ella Delton, MI Passed away Tuesday evening August 13, 2013. Ella was born July 16, 1923 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a daughter of Harold and Fannie Loher Nutter, Sr. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo and Delton area resident and was a member of the Cooper Baptist Church. She graduated from Plainwell High School in 1942. She later began her career at Sutherland Paper Co. In July of 1951, Ella married the love of her life, Jerry A. Phelps. She spent most of her days as a homemaker. Ella enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking. She was famous for her delicious apple pie. Ella and Jerry also enjoyed traveling and shared many memories camping with their family. Ella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry A. Phelps on April 15, 1996; a son, Paul E. Blanchard; her twin brother, Richard Nutter and a granddaughter, Toni Blanchard-Hamlin. She is survived by 3 children, Judith Ronald Church of Delton, Cheryl Phelps of Battle Creek, and Jerry Lisa Phelps II of Martin; 5 grandchildren; Chris Terrie Colwell, Jennifer Daniel Black, Chad Phelps, Deanne Jay Bourdo, Paul Scott Blanchard; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Nutter, Jr. of Kalamazoo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 11 o'clock Monday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8pm Sunday at the chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center.
