of Kalamazoo, Michigan Elizabeth Augustins, age 88, passed away March 15, 2013 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was born January 21, 1925 in Latvia and came to the USA in 1950. In 1952 she married Ingo and so began their life of travels from USA to Africa, from Africa to Iran, to Europe and Mexico. In 1962 their son Michael was born and he also traveled with his parents in spite of his handicaps. In 1970 Michael and Elizabeth settled in Kalamazoo to accommodate Michael's educational needs. During the school vacations they spent time with dad in Brussels. Since 1970, Elizabeth stayed involved with school programs for Special Education and later continued to work with agencies which provided services for handicapped adults. She remained dedicated to the cause of helping to improve lives of mentally impaired individuals. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Ingo in 2002 and by her nephew Eric Makarovs. She is survived by her son Michael Augustins of Kalamazoo, her sister, Vera Fielding of Kalamazoo. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or services. Memorials may be made to Community Living Options, Residential Opportunities, Inc., MRC Industries, or Community Advocates.
