Douglas Mendham

Portage, MI Passed away Friday, January 30, 2009. Douglas was born March 27, 1922 in Elkhart, IN, the son of William T. and Agnes Leona Nellist Mendham and had lived in the Portage area for many years. He graduated from Portage High School and had been employed by the Upjohn Company for over 30 years. During WW II, he served his country in the United States Army-Air Corps. Douglas loved fishing, hunting and traveling. On September 5, 1942, he married LaVae Chase, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Philip Mendham of Portage and Judy Warner of Escanaba, MI; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Gerald Monjeau of MA; an uncle, Owen Jim Mendham; and a cousin, Richard Mendham. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Interment will follow in South Portage Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association. www.langelands.com 343-1508
