Kalamazoo Passed away February 23, 2008 at Borgess Nursing Home. Dorothy was born December 13, 1914 in Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of Herman and Alvina Peters Rausch. She graduated from Creston High School in Grand Rapids in 1933. In 1937 she married Marion Curtiss and moved to Kalamazoo where they opened The Nut House on South Burdick St., specializing in fresh roasted nuts. They moved The Nut House to North Burdick St. in 1945 and went into the real estate business in 1954 and were members of the Kalamazoo Board of Realtors. They were charter members and active in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Dorothy was preceded in death by a sister Alma Rausch. Surviving are two sons, John Curtiss of Kalamazoo and Dan and Susan Curtiss of Portage; 6 grandchildren, Jeffery Watson of Kalamazoo, Eric Tatiana Curtiss of Kalamazoo, Scott Curtiss of Kalamazoo, Christine David Eichaker of Kalamazoo, Richard Rainie Curtiss of Chicago and Jason Curtiss of Portage; 4 great-grandchildren, Kayla and Ashtin Eichaker and Carleigh and Ashleigh Curtiss. Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3000 West Main St. with Pastor Dale Krueger officiating. Private family interment in Greenwood Cemetery in Grand Rapids. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. and from 10 - 11 am on Wednesday at the church. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy's memory be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund, Borgess Nursing Home Building Fund, Borgess VNA and Hospice or the charity of your choice.
