ZWEEDYK, Mr. Cornelius "Neil"
Portage, MI Died Wednesday afternoon July 13, 2011. Neil was born June 12, 1929 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of John and Jenny Kloosterman Zweedyk. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with the Frito Lay Company for 32 years before retiring. Neil was also a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He became an ordained minister with the United Christian Faith Ministries and had a home ministry with his wife caring for shut-ins. Neil was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life, Esther "June" Zweedyk on July 4, 2000; 2 brothers, Gabriel and William; a sister, Martha; and an infant son. He is survived by 3 children, Diana Alvin Alpers Lynn of Allegan, John Zweedyk of Kalamazoo, and Nancy William Zweedyk-Sharpensteen of Cave City, KY; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; a sister, Nell VanEck of Portage; 2 brothers, Mike Zweedyk of Mattawan and Yoris Zweedyk of Kentucky; a close friend, Judy Pearson of Portage; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside services will be held 11 o'clock Saturday in Riverside Cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure.
