Portage Passed away Friday, June 13, 2008. He was born November 17, 1929 in Dickey County, ND and lived in the Kalamazoo area for many years. He was an assistant service manager for De Nooyer Chevrolet for 25 years, served as a volunteer Firefighter for the City of Portage for 25 years and served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army. On February 8, 1955 he married Fern Alice Rose, who preceded him in death on December 22, 2002. He was also preceded by 2 sisters. Clifford is survived by his children, Frances Robinson of Kalamazoo, Glenda Steinwand and Dennis Steinwand of Portage and Delores Steinwand Bill Storer of Lawton; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a brother; 2 sisters; and his extended family, Grace Schoonbeck, his fiancée and her children, Ron Ginger Schoonbeck and Larry Schoonbeck and their families. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Calvary Reformed Church, 7829 S. 5th Street with Pastor Mike Drew officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Veterans Memorial.
