STOPPELBERG, Cecil
Of Kalamazoo Cecil passed away early Tuesday morning, July 27, 2010 at Borgess Medical Center. He was born July 30, 1927 in Parchment, the son of Adolph and Wubina Roossien Stoppelberg. On September 2, 1949, Cecil was united in marriage to Annajean Haan. He was employed by Eaton Corp. until his retirement. Cecil and Annajean were charter members of Haven Reformed Church. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and archery, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Annajean Stoppelberg; three daughters, Marjory Buytendorp of Mattawan, Jeane David Olmstead of Kalamazoo, and Penny Stoppelberg of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren, Johnny Buytendorp Jr., Lisa Wardrope, David Olmstead II, and Nicholas Olmstead; six great-grandchildren, Karestin Olmstead, Cooper Olmstead, Blake Gladhill, Murron Wardrope, Duncan Wardrope, and Alysa Buytendorp; and sister-in-law, Pauline Stoppelberg. Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Adolf, Harm, and Arrend Stoppelberg; and son-in-law, Johnny Buytendorp. Memorial services to celebrate Cecil's life will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Friday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, with Rev. Keith Lohman officiating, where friends may visit with the family from 12:00 PM until the time of services.
