Carl Sweet

SWEET, Carl Of Mattawan Passed away Sunday afternoon, November 25, 2007 at his residence. Carl was born September 25, 1928 in Detroit, MI the son of Walter and Grace Terry Sweet. Carl was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army for 22 years. Prior to his retirement Carl made a career as a cook for the Army. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography, and just driving around enjoying the outdoors. In June of 1956 Carl was united in marriage to his loving wife of 51 years, the former Beverly Bowlby who survives. Also surviving are his children, Laura Rich Rohrbach of Chicago, Susan David Shine of Bangor, Jeff Terri Sweet of Paw Paw; 9 grandchildren, Krista, Shawn, Michelle, Jeremy, and Chantel; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister, Edward Janet Sweet of Blissfield, MI, Evelyn Reed of Portage; and many nieces and nephews. Carl was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lee Sweet. Services will be held 10:30 o?clock Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street with Rev. Jim Dyke officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest North Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at the Westside Chapel.
