POSTHUMUS, Bettijean
Of Portage Bettijean Posthumus was born February 8, 1925, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of Garrett and Marie Pons Koster. Bettijean went home to be with her Lord on July 4, 2013, in Portage, Michigan. She was a longtime Portage area resident. Bettijean was a very active member of First Reformed Church of Portage for over 50 years, where she had faithfully served in numerous capacities throughout the years. For many years she was co-owner and worked with her husband in the family business Clark & Biek Men's Wear. Family was a very important part of Bettijean's life, especially being able to follow the activities of her children and grandchildren. On February 4, 1949, she was united in marriage to Henry E. Posthumus, who preceded her in death on January 27, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters and 2 brothers. Surviving are three sons, Douglas Brenda Posthumus of Mishawaka, IN, Dale Kathy Brown Posthumus of Portage and William Delanne Posthumus of Portage; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 7th from 2-4 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. A service to celebrate Bettijean's life will be held 11:00 AM Monday at First Reformed Church of Portage 7905 S. Westnedge Ave. with Pastor Clayton Smith officiating. A private interment will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials in Bettijean's memory may be directed to First Reformed Church of Portage Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice.
