WOLVERTON, Bernice Portage Passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2006. She was born October 3, 1921 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Claude and Cora Myrtle Caswell Pierce and had been a lifelong resident of the area. She had been a member of First Free Will Baptist Church and Lake Center Bible and a life member of Comstock VFW Post 6252. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wolverton; a son, Roulen ?Ron? Wolverton; 2 great grandchildren; 7 brothers, William Pierce, Bernard Pierce, who was her twin, Russell Pierce, Claude Pierce, Wayne Pierce, Elmer Pierce and Martin Pierce; 4 sisters, Maxine Kubizna, Josephine Bush, Lillian Pierce and Edna Wilmer; and 2 very special friends. She is survived by her children, Sharron LaVern Clawson of Portage, Daniel Shelvajean Wolverton of Plainwell, Victoria Dallas Davis of Kalamazoo; 18 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren; 21 great great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Evelyn Timmons of Decatur, Glenna Giddings of Kalamazoo and Patricia Shepard of Decatur; a brother, Marvin Pierce of Colorado; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday in the First Free Will Baptist Church, 630 Moline St. with Rev. John Vick officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to Borgess Hospice.
