Barbara Dykstra

Barbara Petry Dykstra passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010. She was the daughter of Clara Beebe Petry and Basil O. Petry. Barbara was born July 22, 1924 in Kalamazoo, MI and lived here all her life. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in June of 1942. She retired from Aero-Motive in 1987. In December of 1946, she married Allard Dykstra. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sarah Ann Dykstra; a grandson, Daniel Clayton Rogers; a brother, James Petry and his wife, Barbara Petry; a sister, Janice Beister; and a sister-in-law, Francis Brown. She is survived by her husband, Allard; a daughter, Mary Farrington; a son, Tom Dykstra and his wife, Sharon; a grandson, Alex Dykstra; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Dykstra; several nieces and nephews and their children. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with Pastor David Bruninks officiating. Interment will follow in South Portage Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday beginning at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be given to the charity of one's choice.
