Arlene Gumtow

GUMTOW, ARLENE Arlene Joy Gumtow, age 86, passed away September 19, 2014 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. Arlene was born October 2, 1927 in Gobles, Michigan, the daughter of Walter and Florence Manning Grauman. She was a longtime Kalamazoo area resident and had worked many years at James River/Brown Co. prior to her retirement. Arlene was a member of the Gull Lake UMC and was known as the card lady. She enjoyed crocheting afghan's and reading, but the most important part of her life was her family especially her great-grandchildren. Surviving are her two daughters, Darlene Albert Csiszar and Cheryl McCrorey; grandchildren, Dawn Drew Mitchell, Michelle Dave DeKema, Jennifer Smith and Matthew Csiszar; great-grandchildren, Michael DeKema, Gavin and Quinn Mitchell, Kayley Arlene and Brady Smith; sisters, Phyllis Austin and Pat Augustyn; several nieces and nephews. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dale, Steve, Ronald, Jack and Larry Grauman; her husband, Richard Gumtow and a son-in-law Michael McCrorey. In accordance with Arlene's wishes cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 26th at the Gull Lake United Methodist Church 8640 Gull Rd with Pastor Mona Joslyn and Pastor James Dyke officiating. A luncheon at the church will immediately follow the service. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials in Arlene's memory may be directed to the Gull Lake United Methodist Church or St. Andrew's Community Church.
