Of Portage, MI Died February 8, 2009. Annabelle was born January 11, 1918 in Portage, MI, the daughter of Porter and Lettie Foster Matteson. She was raised in Portage where she graduated from high school. Prior to her retirement, she was a waitress at several Portage area restaurants. Annabelle was a member of the First Baptist Church of Portage. She loved to read, do puzzle books, play the organ and play cards. She was also a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of the Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge. Annabelle was preceded in death by her parents, by her first husband Bernard Harenberg, her second husband William Chapman and by several brothers and sisters, Surviving are 4 sons and 4 daughters, Donald Carol Harenberg, Leanne Hummer, Kathleen Ron Erwine, Terry Harenberg, Sharon Lee, James Mary Harenberg, Robin Harenberg and Candy Fred Gallay; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; 2 sisters and 1 brother, Midge Mel Meyle, Holly Matteson and June Powe; many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Portage, 1133 E. Centre Ave. on Thursday at 11:00 am with Pastor Chad Wells officiating. Friends may meet the family on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E.
