DAVIS, Anna "Anne"
Kalamazoo Anne died peacefully early Sunday morning, November 28, 2010, at Tendercare of Portage. She was born March 8, 1920 in Kalamazoo, MI, a daughter of the late Katie DeSmit Bogard and had been a lifelong area resident. Anne was a member of Westwood Church of God and was active with the 60 Plus Fellowship program there. She also was a member of the Salvation Army Friendship Club. Anne retired from Western Michigan University in 1980. On November 17, 1945, Anne was united in marriage with Martin J. Davis who preceded her in death on July 26, 1987. Anne was also preceded in death by her: daughter, Sandra L. Powers; son, Howard L. Davis; sister, Helen Mowrer, and brother-in-law, Clarence Porter. Surviving are: three children, Michael J. Cheryl Davis, Sr., of Kalamazoo, Florence A. Jacob Wolthuis of Portage and Rosalie A. Eugene Cook of Houston, TX; son-in-law, William P. Powers, Sr., of Lewiston, NY; daughter-in-law, Betty Davis of Las Vegas, NV; twelve grandchildren; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; brother, John Linda Bogard of Kalamazoo; sister, Catherine Porter of Portage; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Private graveside services will be held Thursday morning in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held 11:00 Thursday morning at Westwood Church of God, 811 Gorham Lane, with Pastor Tom Tufts, Sr., officiating. Anne's family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the Westwood Church of God.
